Sustainability-focused stock exchange to be established in the U.S.
The Green Impact Exchange (GIX) has filed an application with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to establish the first sustainability-focused stock exchange in the U.S. Founded in 2022 by former NYSE executives, GIX aims to connect investors who care about sustainability with companies committed to being sustainable.
Green Governance Standards for companies listing on the exchange
GIX will require all companies listing on the exchange to comply with its Green Governance Standards. These standards mandate an internal governance structure that provides transparency and accountability for the companies’ green and sustainability commitments. Core principles include a public commitment to long-term sustainability, engaging with key stakeholders, and implementing policies to achieve sustainability goals.
Benefits for investors and companies
The new exchange aims to simplify the investment landscape for sustainability-focused investors and help companies access capital directed towards sustainable investment. GIX will launch within 3-4 months after receiving SEC approval, with a focus on driving economic growth and environmental benefits.
